• The notary public will receive your booking request and initiate an online notarization invitation via email.

  • Click the Get Started button within that email.

  • Upload your document(s) on the next screen.

  • Complete identity verification and answer security questions.

  • Once your identity is verified, you will meet your notary via webcam and electronically sign your document.

  • The entire session will be recorded and saved as you and the notary sign online together. We store the video for ten years. We do not store the documents, so download them immediately.

  • When your session is complete, you will instantly receive an e-mail reminding you to download the final documents.

How does it work?

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an app? What do I need to download?

  • You will not need to download anything. Just make sure you have a webcam, microphone, and the latest operating system updated on your computer. The web browser Google Chrome works best.

  • Knowledge Based Authentication (KBA) is used for identification confirmation. This is a legal requirement because the notary cannot hold, bend, and inspect a physical copy of the signer’s identification. You have probably encountered KBA before. KBA requires that five security questions can be generated based on history found using social security number, credit report, and photo ID. For example, you may be asked past addresses or about the make and model of one of your vehicles. A minimum of five questions must be generated. Generally, two years of credit history are required to meet this threshold. If your credit reports are frozen or locked for any reason, KBA will not function. Four out of five questions must be answered correctly within two minutes. Two attempts can be made within a 24 period. For KBA to work, you must: -be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident or have an EAC -hold a driver’s license or other state-issued photo ID. (See I don't have a SSN Question below for other options)

  • -an ITIN or EIN will not work (these do not associate personal data with an individual person, unfortunately)

  • If using a Social Security number it must be an actual SSN to work. You must take a photo of your ID during the process. It must be straight on, not an angle. No flash nor glare, in great lighting -- the photo must be crystal clear.

What happens after I pass I.D. Verification?

Our online notarization appointment can move forward. During your session, we will each turn on our microphones and webcams to see and speak with each other over the signing platform. The notary will ask to view your ID, ask you to state your name, and ask you a few easy questions to determine that you are able and willing to sign your document.

I will then apply my digital certificate signature and electronic stamp (e-Seal) to complete your notarization. The webcam connection ends immediately once the notarization is complete. You instantly receive an e-mail with a reminder to download the document(s).

Can I do this on my phone?

It is not recommended. A computer or laptop will probably save you time and provide a smoother experience. The speed and reliability of your connection really matters.

Audio and video is uploading and downloading as you review and sign documents. That’s a lot of data! That said, many have successfully signed using only a smartphone. The best results were with Chrome as the default browser on the phone.

There are several of us who need to sign. Can we sign together?

Yes, you can sign using the same computer screen, however you must provide a separate email address for each signer.

My webcam is not working.

If your webcam is "attached" to another program, like Zoom or Facebook Messenger, you will need to "release" it in your settings so the signing platform can access the webcam to use during our session.

What if I have weak internet?

Internet speeds must be 3 mbps or more and reliable. A cell phone receiving e-mails and texts during signing session will likely drop as the connection is not steady/reliable. A computer or laptop with a direct internet connection or great WiFi will offer the smoothest experience as you sign.

Do I need a witness?

This is actually a legal question I cannot answer. I am not attorney and I cannot provide legal advice. Examine your form or ask your attorney if you need to determine if a witness is necessary. If you do not need a witness, do not click "Add a Witness" as you set up your online notarization. If you do need a witness, select "Add a Witness" on the first screen and type his or her email address. Witnesses proceed through identity verification in the same manner as other signers.

I don't have a SSN.

As long as you are 18+ and have lived in the united states long enough to have bills in your name or owned a car or property to accumulate enough data for the knowledge based authentication questions then you do not need a Social Security Number. This does make the questions harder to answer though.

Another way is, if you know someone who has a SSN then you can have them be a Credible Witness for you. The Credible Witness would have take an Oath or Affirmation stating they know the person signing the documents is who they claim to be and how they know you, and the witness cannot be a party to the document. They would also have to perform the I.D. Validation and Knowledge Based Authentication.

I can also refer you to a notary that can perform Biometric Verification, the process in which a program compares your facial features from your I.D. with a selfie you take.

ATTORNEY -- I'm an attorney or title company booking on behalf of a client.

Great! When you or your client book the day & time on our site, make sure to enter in the Notes section who will be paying for the session.

If nothing is noted, the client is automatically asked to enter credit card information prior to the online session starting.

If the attorney or title company is paying, enter details in the Notes section of the booking calendar. I'll take it from there and your client will not be asked to enter credit card details.

Enter in the Notes section:

Firm or Title Company name

Attorney or Escrow Officer name

email address

phone number

physical billing address

Then send the PDF documents (WITHOUT password protection) to me. Or, simply give them to your client to upload if you prefer.

I'll send a PDF invoice via email after the close of the successful online session.

If the session is unsuccessful for any reason, there is no charge to you nor your client.

LANDMAN -- I work in oil and gas. Is it possible to notarize a mineral lease or addendum online and get it recorded with the county?

Yes. I can notarized different forms while working with Landmen. Some examples include lien waivers, heirship affidavits, leases, and various addenda. Counties in Washington with e-Recording rarely blink when they record remote online notarized documents. However, if you are working with a county that does not have e-Recording, simply request a Certificate of Authenticity from us. The Certificate of Authenticity is (wet) hand-stamped and signed by the notary. It must be mailed to you after the online session. It is stapled to the copies of the remote online notarized documents by the notary. I charge just $5 to cover the printing and mailing of the Certificate of Authenticity. If you need expedited service, send us an overnight shipping label and I'll take care of the rest.

Can I complete my I-9 Form?

I do not complete I-9 Forms. The I-9 Form is not notarized. I offer only notarization services.

I am selling a property in California. Can I notarize online with you?

Yes. I have had great success working with sellers, escrow officers, and title reps closing sale transactions in California. Book your sellers package on our main page. After we complete the online notarizations, we will generate a Certificate of Authenticity and mail your package to your title company. If you need overnight service, you or your escrow officer should send us a UPS or FedEx shipping label. Otherwise we will send all documents via USPS. Mail generally takes 3-5 days to reach CA from WA.

ESCROW OFFICER -- I'm an escrow officer or title rep booking on behalf of a client.

Great! When you or your client book the day & time on our site, make sure to enter in the Notes section who will be paying for the session.
